A UX project that created an interactive digital platform for Götenebostäder. The platform combines digital maps, local identity, and community features to engage both residents and visitors.

Lack of Digital Community Engagement
Götenebostäder needed to strengthen engagement and cohesion in a residential area. Traditional communication methods were one-way and failed to capture the area’s unique identity. There was a clear need for a platform that could combine practical information with community features to increase resident involvement and make the area more accessible.
Agile UX and Iterative Prototyping
We followed an agile UX design process in three phases: – Needs Analysis (mapped user needs and technical constraints) – Mid-Fidelity Prototyping (prototype created and tested iteratively) – Visual Design (focus on color, typography, and local identity)
– Navigation: Users want to orient themselves in the area via a map. The map must be the starting point for finding information and activities.
– Local Character: The design must reflect Götene and the Vänern region’s unique character to create local pride and recognition.
– Mixed Experience: The platform must balance digital convenience with analog exploration (“balance the physical and digital”).
A Map-Based Hub for Community
The finished platform is an intuitive hub that unites digital and analog experiences. It integrates a strong local identity with user-friendly navigation to create a sustainable and visual meeting place for residents and visitors.
The platform’s central element is an interactive map that provides intuitive access to activities, information, and social opportunities. The design uses playful elements and an optimized structure to ensure clarity and easy navigation. By grounding the design in local identity, community engagement is fostered and communication simplified
– Goal: Create a sustainable solution that increases engagement and simplifies communication for Götenebostäder – Direct result: A tested prototype with a strong visual identity, ready for development
I learned the importance of integrating local identity into design. A platform that is not only functional but also visually anchored in the physical place creates a deeper sense of belonging and promotes long-term engagement.
The platform is ready for development, but the next step would be to conduct A/B testing on the visual design (color palette and typography) to confirm its engagement-enhancing effect on the target group.
